The Culture War

The Culture War & Understanding the Signs of the Times

We’re losing this culture war, and truth is on life support.

No nation has ever survived if it can’t get at least half of the country to agree on what’s right and wrong.

A few years ago, a study by Barna Research concluded that two-thirds of American adults either believe moral truth is relative to circumstances or have not given it much thought.

Furthermore, more than one out of two Christians believe no absolute moral truth exists. The fastest growing forms of religion in America are non-religion and anti-religion.

Four out of five millennials believe there is no absolute moral truth. They are the rising generation of pastors, teachers, theologians, scientists, media, presidents, parents, elected officials, and law enforcement officers.

Truth and fact have been replaced by personal opinion and have given way to cancel culture.

When it comes to history, we simply cancel what we disagree with. When you look at statues that have been torn down recently, it’s because they’re supposedly racist… but when you ask those that tore them down who those people were and what they did, they have no clue.

The statues of David Farragut and Ulysses S. Grant were torn down because they were supposedly racist, even though one was a Naval Commander and the other was the Commanding Army General – both for the Union.

They even tore down the statue of Frederick Douglas, a civil rights leader.

And so the culture today is canceling things they don’t know about.

Just over a decade ago, everyone knew there were two genders… and just a few years ago, they stopped counting how many genders there were because over 90 of them were legally recognized.

We’ve been the most prosperous nation in the world for several decades… but despite this fact, we know that 75% of college students want to change to socialism, 69% of millennials want to switch to socialism, and 41% of all Americans want to change to socialism.

Here’s why you should be alarmed…

In 5800 years of recorded history, no single nation exists today that changed from free-market capitalism to socialism that preserved liberty and maintained prosperity.

The truth is, believing a lie has a high cost and consequence because it always causes harm.

Turning the Tides in the Culture War

Defending the truth requires courage.

As Americans, we must be lovers of truth more than anything else.

To turn the tide in this culture war, we must love the truth, find the truth, and defend the truth.

The first Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, John Jay, issues a challenge to us all:

Every member of the State ought diligently to read and study the constitution of this country, and teach the rising generation to be free. By knowing their rights, they will sooner perceive when they are violated, and be the better prepared to defend and assert them.

We must be willing to defend our Constitutional liberties… but also to assert them.

Two centuries later, the Constitution still works today because it was based on timeless truths and principles of jurisdiction that govern human behavior.

But unfortunately, the last few generations have been taught not to talk about politics and religion, which has had dire consequences.

People today are triggered, emotionally and spiritually illiterate, and do not know their God-given rights.

We must re-learn what it means to be patriotic.

As a matter of fact, the Founding Fathers believed that a lack of patriotism was selfish.

Patriotism is as much a virtue as justice, and is as necessary for the support of societies as natural affection is for the support of families. The armor patriae [love of country] is both a moral and religious duty. It comprehends not only the love of our neighbors but of millions of our fellow creatures, not only of the present but of future generations.

-Benjamin Rush

As outlined in Educational Liberty, Dr. Benjamin Rush taught that the purpose of public schools is to prepare students to love and serve God, their country, and their families.

He put the country before family because he understood that if we ever lost control of our country, it would become the great enemy of our families.

And Jameson personally believes that so goes our families, and so goes our culture.

Steps to Taking Our Country Back

Here are three practical steps we can take RIGHT NOW to start taking our country back to win the culture war…

1. Resolve to Prioritize Liberty Over Leisure

2. Serve & Get Involved

3. Teach Others to do the Same

A deeper dive…

1. Resolve to Prioritize Liberty Over Leisure

Be intentional with your patriotism. Read, study, and teach the Constitution so that you can know your rights, defend your rights, and assert your rights.

Be willing to sacrifice some of your fun activities like sports and vacations so that you can get involved locally to learn how to eat, sleep, and breathe freedom.

Be willing to do whatever it takes for the cause of liberty.

Our Founding Fathers pledged to each other their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor for the cause of liberty.

Why can’t we do the same?

2. Serve & Get Involved

Find a good Bible-based church that’s not unwilling to talk about the culture and serve.

Start attending school board meetings and know what the next generation is being taught. If you’re appalled, run for school board.

Mentor a teenager or young adult and share your life experiences and wisdom with them.

Attend and engage local conservative grassroots organizations to educate yourself on the candidates running for office.

Hold your elected officials accountable. Learn how to read legislation and watch how your representatives vote.

Here are some resources to help you get started.

3. Teach Others to do the Same

You can become a constitutional coach with the Patriot Academy, hold classes online, or start small groups in your home or church.

Learn how to communicate in such a way that builds bridges, not burn them down. “How to Win Friends and Influence Enemies” is an excellent book by Will Witt.

Volunteer for a candidate that you believe in and lead by example.

Recognize where your mission field is… you can’t sow seeds in an area already ripe for harvest.
